How Tilt & Turn Works

One handle. Three positions.

New to tilt & turn? It takes one try. The handle decides how the window opens: pick a position to see what the sash does and when you would use it.

Tilt Single tilt and turn window, closed The same window with the top of the sash tilted into the room The same window with the sash swung open into the room

Fresh air, without a full swing.

The top of the sash leans a few inches into the room while the bottom stays held in the frame.

  • Airing a bedroom overnight
  • Letting air in during light rain
  • Rooms where a wide-open window is not wanted
What You Are Buying

Built to keep drafts out

A double-hung slides past its seals. A tilt & turn sash presses into them, so a closed window stays tight in every season. These six parts make the difference.

A Planning Call with our window specialist: count sizes and options together, so the price you plan for is the price you pay.

Comparing quotes? A low number often covers the window only. Check that removal, installation, trim, cleanup and haul-away are included, then compare. Ours lists every line.

In your written quote

  • Windows with triple-pane glass and Winkhaus hardware
  • Insect screens and delivery
  • Removal and haul-away of the old windows
  • Installation with waterproofing tape and sealant inside and out
  • Exterior trim and interior trim
  • Cleanup and all taxes

Listed as separate lines

  • Repair of a rotten or damaged opening (see right)
  • Changes to the size of an opening
  • A municipal permit, if your town requires one, at cost

If we find hidden rot

We stop, show you photos and agree the cost in writing — a change order you sign before we continue. No surprises on the invoice.

Typical opening repairs: minor $150–250; replacing a sill or jamb $350–600. Structural damage is quoted separately.

Plan the Fit

Will it work in my room?

The sash opens into the room, so it is worth a look at what sits near the window. Pick what you are unsure about.

What to check

Opening space

The sash swings into the room in turn mode. Note any furniture or objects near the opening when discussing your project.

Tilt needs only a few inches. Turn needs the width of the sash.

Window Types

A window for every opening in the house

A narrow stair window, a wide living room opening or a basement vent: the same REHAU frame, hardware and look throughout the house.

Single tilt and turn window with the sash tilted
Tilt & Turn

One sash that tilts and turns. The standard choice for most openings.

Best for bedrooms, baths and kitchens

Two-sash tilt and turn window, left sash tilted
Two-Sash

Two operating sashes in one frame, with a center post or without one for a clear opening.

Best for living rooms and wide openings

Wide fixed pane with a narrow tilt and turn sash beside it
Fixed + Tilt & Turn

A fixed pane for the view with an operating sash beside it.

Best for picture windows and stairwells

Single window with the sash tilted in for ventilation
Tilt-Only & Picture

A tilt-only sash for basements and bathrooms, or a fixed picture window, with a transom above if you like.

Best for basements, baths and tall openings

More opening for egress. In turn mode the whole sash swings clear, so a tilt & turn gives a larger clear opening than a double-hung of the same size. Arched and shaped windows on request. Units up to 157 in (white) or 98 in (laminated colors).

White tilt and turn window in a living room The same window with an anthracite grey frame The same window with a black brown frame The same window with a chocolate brown frame The same window with a quartz grey frame The same window with a golden oak wood-look frame The same window with a rustic oak wood-look frame The same window with a walnut wood-look frame The same window with a bog oak wood-look frame
Finishes

Same window, a different house.

Frame color changes how the window reads from the street and from the sofa. Pick any of the nine standard colors to see it on the same window.

White

Blends with painted trim and light walls. The most common choice for traditional homes.

9 standard colors

RENOLIT foils (Germany) with UV protection. Color outside only +10%, both sides +15%; different colors in and out are possible. About 30 more RENOLIT colors and RAL paint on request.

A Local Project

New windows. Same house.

Owners of older homes worry about losing their trim and the character of the house. Here is how one colonial kept both.

FAQ

Questions before you decide

The questions Central Pennsylvania homeowners ask us most. If yours is not here, call — we are happy to help.

Call us with your questions(814) 888-4432

Mon – Thu, 11am – 4pm. When we’re busy, our AI assistant answers, takes down your project and makes sure a real person calls you back fast.

A sales representative — usually the owner — replies by the method you chose within 1–2 business days. The call takes about 15 minutes. If it makes sense, we propose a time for a check-measure visit. Nothing is booked until you confirm it.

Yes, from a single window. The minimum order is $4,500, because the crew visit and delivery cost the same for one window or ten. Orders of one or two windows ship with the next larger batch, so allow one to two extra weeks. We keep your frame color and glass on file so later phases match.

The hardware is more complex and every window is built to your opening rather than a stock size. Our prices also include triple-pane glass, screens, trim inside and out, removal and taxes, so compare the whole quote, not the window alone. Ours lists every line.

One third when you sign the agreement; the balance on the day installation is complete, after you have checked every window with us. Both are invoiced through QuickBooks, and you can pay by card, bank transfer or over time through Affirm. You may cancel within three business days of signing; we place the factory order only after that period.

Interior and exterior trim are part of every quote: we finish it to match the room, or keep what is there when it is sound. We check the trim and sills at the measurement visit, and your quote says what stays and what is replaced.

Not if you don’t want them to. Options include a HOPPE handle with a key, tilt-first hardware (the window tilts before it can swing) and an opening restrictor. Tell us which rooms when we measure.

Yes. We work one opening at a time and close each one before moving on. Most homes, up to about ten windows, take one day; larger projects two. Please take down blinds, curtains and alarm sensors before we arrive.

In writing, from the installation date: 5 years on the REHAU frame and sash, 5 years on hardware and handles, 2.5 years on installation and on the glass seal, plus a free adjustment in the first year. Labor on covered repairs is free for 2.5 years. The warranty transfers once to the next owner. Read the full document.

Uniview does, for both the window and the installation. Send a service request with your agreement number and a photo, call (814) 888-4432 or email univiewwindows@gmail.com. Urgent problems — a window that won’t close or lock, broken glass, water coming in — get a call back the same business day and a visit within two business days. Everything else: a reply within one business day and a visit within ten. Out of warranty, a service visit is $149 and covers adjustment of up to five windows; if the inspection finds a covered defect, the fee is waived.

Yes, through Affirm, subject to credit approval. You choose “Pay over time” right in your invoice and get an instant decision; checking your eligibility does not affect your credit score.

At our European partner plant, in business since 1998, from German REHAU profiles, Winkhaus hardware and Guardian glass with SWISSPACER warm-edge spacers; aluminum windows use Aluprof profiles. Each window is made to your measured sizes, carries the Uniview Windows marking alongside the REHAU and Winkhaus marks, and arrives at our Central Pennsylvania warehouse before installation.

About three months from signing to installation: a check-measure visit, 10–12 weeks of manufacturing and delivery, then one or two days of installation. Small orders of one or two windows may take one to two weeks longer.

A standard window A/C unit does not fit a tilt & turn window, because the sash opens inward. We point this out at the measurement visit; through-wall and mini-split units are not affected.

Yes, insect screens are included. Because the sash opens inward, the screen sits on the outside and stays in place when the window is open. Pet-resistant screens are available on request.

Usually, especially if your current windows are drafty or single-pane, but the savings depend on the house. We don’t promise a percentage. We show you the manufacturer’s values for the windows we propose, so you can compare them with what you have.
